Combined, gospel artists Travis Greene and Tamela Mann took home nearly half of the honors at the 32nd Stellar Awards, held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, this weekend.  Erica Campbell and Anthony Brown served as hosts.

Greene garnered six awards, including Song of the Year (“Made a Way”) and Male Vocalist of the Year. Annie Stoll’s design for Greene’s The Hill (RCA Inspiration) secured a Stellar for Recorded Music Packaging of the Year.

Mann, whose live rendition of her single, “God Provides,” was among the highlights of the Saturday evening awards program, received six honors, including Artist of the Year and the Albertina Walker Female Vocalist of the Year.

Emerging artist Bri (Briana Babineaux) took home two awards. Myron Butler and Levi also won two awards; Butler captured an additional Stellar for his production role on Mann’s One Way album (Tillymann). Chicago Mass Choir won its first-ever Stellar Award for Traditional Choir of the Year.

Mike Chandler of Rejoice Musical Soulfood (Virginia Beach, VA) was named Announcer of the Year.

Special honors were bestowed on three gospel music trailblazers. Spencer Taylor Jr. of the Highway QCs received the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award, Harvey Watkins Jr. of the Canton Spirituals received the Thomas A. Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award, and the Reverend Dr. Clay Evans received the Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legend Award.

Throughout the weekend, Central City Productions CEO Don Jackson announced the development of Stellar TV, a 24/7 television network scheduled to debut in the fourth quarter of this year. He said Stellar TV will not only broadcast the annual Stellar Awards show but will provide a variety of faith-based and family-friendly programming centered on gospel and inspirational music. Jackson asked everyone at the weekend’s events to text the word stellartv to 797979, and to encourage their local cable television providers to add Stellar TV to their service packages.
