“I’m Still Here”
Carl Brister
Agape Musicworks (2013)
The single from Carl Brister’s forthcoming CD is a testament to endurance despite going “through hell and back.”  His tough testimony of molestation as a youth is presented with a forgiving urban AC vibe, a rap assist from Steve “Chef” Walker, and an earworm of a chorus.
While the arrangement’s rhythmic thrust does not let Brister flex his classical training, the message is loud and clear.  He made it through years of hiding tears “by the grace of God.”

“Depression – been there, done that.  Bought the T-shirt, ain’t going back!” he chuckles, then broadens the net by providing encouragement to those suffering from cancer, HIV, and diabetes.
