To the Mighty Clouds family, we have shared many years of Holy Ghost and foot stomping concerts. Words can not express the empty void that we personally feel due to the lost of our dear brother Mike Cook. When the Clouds appeared at our last show, in Goulds, Florida at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, it was magical. Mike sung as if he had an angel in his voice and slayed many of the paritioners that night. We laughed, rejoiced and ate some good home cooking (oxtails). He will be missed and our prayers are with you.

Michael Cook and his family came into my family when my mother (deceased) married his father Thomas Cook- Mike and Val(wife)accepted us as sister and brothers with no doubt- He would see me out mowing thelawn or my kids on the streets of East Orange. New Jersey and would beep crazily and stop to talk. He would always say to me “if you need our help just ask you are family- He was my brother-friend and my kids uncle- I will miss him dearly-

    To the Cook Family,

Mike will surely be missed by the New Shiloh Baptist Church Family in Nathalie, Virginia. He touched so many lives and was truly an inspiration to many of the youth in the area. We will miss him at Homecoming but know that he is in a better place. May God be with you all at time and keep you strong.

My prayers go out to his family and I pray that Mike will rest and peace knowing the Lord the way that he does.I met this man personally when they tour in NJ about 20yrs ago,I was a hotel clerk and checked them in to their rooms @ The Royal Inn Hotel on the next morning I was rude to them about paying their hotel bill and Mike touched my life that day because I wasn’t saved at the time and he said to me “do you know that Jesus Loves you” and I looked at him and laughed because at the time I didn’t understand, but I have never forgotten that day it is as if it happened yesterday.I’m very saddned by this but I just wanted his friends and family to know that this man touched my life and I know he has touched many others life because he was not afraid or ashamed of talking about the Lord to anybody.

My condelences to the family and friends of Mike Cook, as well as to the Mighty Clouds of Joy.

I last saw Mike in June 2008 at Aretha’s gospel revival. It was great to see him. I chatted with him for a bit. His performance was exciting as usual, and his voice outstanding.

Ironically, the late Charles Craig also performed on that program.

We never know when “this may be our last time” to show love and respect to out fellow man.

Mike was a wonderful person and I will miss him.

    To The Cook family:

We send our love with blessed assurrance through the love of Christ Jesus. God blessed Mike with one of; if not the best voices in gospel music. My husband and I personnaly enjoyed every program we attended and there where a great many. Every time the Mighty Clouds came anywhere close to Raleigh my husband or the both of us was there. Mike would always greet us with a smile and a hello just as if he’s known us all his life. He had a very humbled spirit. Not like many of the gospel singers who think to highly of themselves Mike really had a Godly spirit about him. Never saw anything about him that was not Godly. May God continue to bless his wife and children, and know that your cherished memories will always be a treasure no one can ever take away. Let the joy of the Lord brighten your day.

From Wendy M. Dorsey, Manager for Michael A. Cook, From the Cook family we appreciate all of the kind words and thoughts. We never know Mike had touched so many people in the short time that he had here on earth.
As many of you may know Mike loved his family and had great plans for his Daughter Ashley Cook. As the days go by for us that are left the pain lessens over our loss, but we know that because of all of the kind words and the Love that Mike gave us we can only be strong in his memory. For you we pray for your strength and that the pain lessens for you as it does for us.
Stay with God, know that you are thought of daily, and believe that you are loved.
We of the Cook family wish you much peace and many blessings!
    Keep walking with God!

    With respect to Mr. Mike Cook and the Family;
God will continue to Guide and keep your remainder of the Family. I want to send my Deepest Heart felt love to the Group as well as the Family. We brought the group to Petersburg, Virginia back in April of 2007 to Petersburg High School. And the Group was a Blessing to all that attended. Joe Ligon was not in 100% of Health so Mike Cook carried the responsibility of what God has Blessed him with, The Gift to Minister through Music and Word. May God Keep and Cover the Family:

I met Mike when I lived in VA.1975When he was the drummer for The Fantastic Heavenly Five of Brookneal,VA.We were like brothers.I will miss you, but like
The late Uncle Hamp said “Just A Few More Days, Trouble Will Be Over.” and Uncle June said “There Is A Place Beyond The Sky.” So sang on, I’ll see you when I get there because I want to go where Jesus is.
