“My Hands are Lifted Up”
Benjamin Cone III & Worship
From the Muscle Shoals Sound Gospel LP
When Praise Meets Worship
Over a conventional, hypnotic melody that traverses familiar P&W territory, Jamel Strong starts a call and response with the choir.  Together, they supplicate for “a blessing with my name on it.”  Katrina Smith turns up the emotional heat at the end with a powerful shouting verse, which fires the inner preacher in Cone for the demonstrative conclusion.
“My Hands are Lifted Up” is from Benjamin Cone III & Worship’s debut full-length CD, When Praise Meets Worship.  It is not the ensemble’s most memorable single—“You Just Don’t Know How the Lord Brought Me Out”—is stronger, but it is still a good transition piece for the album.
