Dorothy Norwood
From the Malaco CD God’s Been Just That Good (2012)
“Let’s go down old school boulevard,” declares Dorothy Norwood at the opening of “We’ve Come A Long Way.” The choir/congregation joins her on the journey, clapping to a Baptist backbeat.
It’s the kind of song a deacon would lift and lead for congregational response, the lyrics answering the age-old question of how I got over. By “leaning and depending on Jesus,” sings Norwood, her shout still strong and resonant. Amen!
