“Lord, You’re the Landlord”
MississippiMass Choir
From the Malaco Records CD …Then Sings My Soul
Leave it to the Mississippi Mass Choir to develop such a clever and delightfully old-school conceit: Jesus as landlord of a broken world.
Fashioned, naturally, as a gospel blues with a weeping guitar intro and strong vocals from Lillian Lilly, “Lord, You’re the Landlord” reminds me of Babbie Mason’s “God Will Open Up a Window.”  Miss Mass calls confidently on Jesus to fix His property, because they know he’s a caring landlord.
