With her latest single, “For My Good,” New York-based gospel singer Angela Missy Billups encourages anyone facing a challenge to hang in there and be encouraged.
Her cheery “For My Good” ties lyrics of comfort inspired by Psalm 119 and Genesis 50:20 to an equally reassuring tempo. What sells the song, though, is the vamp, where Missy stokes an evangelistic fire in her voice to hammer home the message and even offers some quick bluesy turns.
Missy’s son Ernest Billups, also a gospel artist (Ernest Billups & Tribe of Levi) wrote and produced the track. Satisfying.
