“Kings and Priests”
Kvng David
Independent (release date: March 27, 2026)

By Robert M. Marovich

“Kings and Priests,” written and performed by Kvng David (aka Alexander David), a Nigerian-born gospel singer based in the UK, helps raise self-esteem by celebrating the royalty inherent in every one of God’s children.

Interestingly, the melodically-interesting selection, which contains elements of Middle Eastern music, grows in intensity even though Kvng David and his background singers stay in the same sonic lane vocally. I suspect this technique resonates best with European gospel audiences, who are used to more tempered arrangements of sacred music. On the other hand, more dramatic shifts in vocal intensity are what move the U.S. gospel audience. Perhaps a remix of the song with a more dynamically complex vocal line could engage a wider audience.
