The banging “I Can Go Home” is a remix of an acoustic release originally issued in February 2025 by blood sisters Alma and Raquel Fisher, aka The Fisher Girls. It offers fine singing and chiming harmonies, though a couple of strange licks by the drummer during the spoken word portion jolt the rhythm, and the listener, and threaten to interfere with the speaker’s message.
While the remix has its appeal, a greater emphasis on the ladies’ harmonies in particular, I prefer the lower-key version from 2025. It’s more intimate and authentic, a vibe that better fits the message of home as a metaphor for Jesus as respite from the world. And if American literature teaches us anything, it’s that no matter how far away we travel, all roads lead back home.
