“For My Good”
Trey Daniel feat. Chrystal Rucker
Release Worship Group (release date: March 20, 2026)
By Robert M. Marovich
A woefully underappreciated singer, Kansas City, Missouri, native Chrystal Rucker can turn any song, no matter how conventional or mundane, into something special.
She doesn’t have to overcome anything, however, on Trey Daniel’s “For My Good.” This piece about the necessity of faith has the message, melody, and call-and-response to make for good listening, and a compelling vamp during which Rucker lets loose with her Pentecostal vocal power. Since a toddler, Chrystal Rucker has blessed the Church of God in Christ with her voice. She’s been featured on albums by Walter Hawkins and Ricky Dillard, but deserves to be heard much more in the gospel music universe.
