John Wilson of Mt. Vernon, NY has worked with artists from Rev. James Cleveland and the New York Community Choir to Elton John and Patti Labelle. His music career is paralleled by stage acting in performances of shows such as Tambourines to Glory, God’s Trombones and The Amen Corner.

Wilson’s gospel ballad, “He Will Not Change,” is a gorgeous ode to the staying power of God in turbulent times. Written and recorded by John’s brother, the late Rev. Sim Wilson, Jr., “He Will Not Change” begins with the single-spotlight solitude reminiscent of Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns,” but gradually builds in brightness as Wilson adds high-tenor vocal curlicues and layers of musicians and vocalists arrive.

This song is one that gospel soloists and groups, especially those who can take a song from quietude to ferocious testimony, will want to add to their repertories.
