For those who have contacted me to learn whether James Davis, longtime member of the Dixie Hummingbirds has passed, I have confirmed that he died on Tuesday, April 17. The funeral will be on Friday, April 27 in Philadelphia. I will post more details as I receive them.

In the photo, Davis (left) poses with Rev. Joe Williams who will officiate the homegoing ceremony. Special thanks to David April for providing the photo.

RIP, James Davis — you deserve your place in glory!

Mr. James B. Davis was my dad. He was a great man, father, husband and gospel singer. Definitely the most honorable, most truthful, and honest person I had ever known. God bless and my He keep you in his loving and knowing arms. I miss you daddy so very much.
    Your baby daughter, Jan

Jan, thanks for sharing your kind and loving words. Honorable, truthful and honest…no greater tribute can be paid to a father by a daughter than that.

James B. Davis was my great-grandfather though many people in this present era might not know this group but during the time The Dixie Hummingbirds sang with numerous artists, we must pay respect for those who paved the way for our present artists. Grandpa Davis I LOVE YOU AND I MISS YOU. ALSO kiss Grandma Davis for me please.
    Your great-grandson, Allen
