Highlights of the April 6 Broadcast:

Benediction:
“The Lord’s Prayer” – Greater Harvest Baptist Church Choir, Chicago
(director of music, Dr. Robert E. Wooten, Sr.)

Tributes to a Fallen Hero: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
April 4 marks the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Memphis. Dr. King was the subject of more gospel songs than any leader in modern history.

“Gospel Memories” will feature vintage gospel music tributes to Dr. King by artists such as the Norfleet Brothers, Brother Will Hairston, Rev. Claude Jeter, Bobby Jones & New Life, Bill Spivery & the Sons of Truth, and the Loving Sisters. We’ll also play some of Dr. King’s personal favorites, sung by Mahalia Jackson.

NOTE: Not all King-related songs were written and recorded following Dr. King’s death. Some recordings sang his praises while he yet lived.

In Loving Memory:
Featuring the work of gospel legends who passed from labor to reward in March:

Dr. Robert E. Wooten, Sr. (Wooten Chorale Ensemble)

Junious Norfleet (Norfleet Brothers)

Sarah McKissick (Little Lucy Singers)

Dillard Crume (Soul Stirrers, Crume Brothers)

Preacher Feature: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King (snippet of 1967 address to the National Association of Television and Radio Announcers – NATRA)

Plus recordings by legends such as:

Sensational Six of Birmingham, AL
Charles Johnson & the Revivers
Southern Echo Gospel Singers of Chicago
Cleophus Robinson & the Spirit of Memphis
Mighty Clouds of Joy
Davis Sisters
Elder Ward & the Gospel Four
Williams Brothers
Peerless Four Quartet
Triedstone Baptist Church Choir
West Coast Jubilee Choir
Kelly Brothers

…and much more!

So tune in and turn on to “Gospel Memories”…for music that moves you and makes you move.

Special thanks to Cornell Lewis of WZHR Inspiration 1400 am in Florida’s Tampa Bay area for placing “Gospel Memories” into the station’s program schedule last month.
