Michelle Lang & Still Water (2012)
On their new single, “Considering All,” Michelle Lang & Still Water sing that if they “had ten thousand days, [it] still wouldn’t be enough to say” how amazing God is.
But as the traditional singers used to say, “this record doesn’t allow me much time.” So if the Seattle , Washington ensemble doesn’t have twenty-seven years for consecutive praise, they do have four and a half minutes, which they fill with smooth, relaxed, mid-tempo grooving and simple, repetitive expressions of gratitude.
Formed in 2000, Michelle Lang & Still Water is one of the most recognized urban contemporary gospel groups in the Pacific Northwest . Their sound blends the gospel enthusiasm of the Winans with the lush pop harmonies of the Corrs. “Considering All” is more mellow than the group’s gospel metal single, “Twisted,” which I prefer for its edginess and self-proclaimed swagger.
