Led by a steadily thumping R&B groove, the title track of gospel singer-songwriter Michael Anthony Johnson’s latest album is a tough-love plea to practice sexual abstinence before “you wish you had the power to rewind.”

“There’s a time for everything”, Johnson says to men and women alike, “your body may think it’s ready but your mind rarely is, and early pregnancy will change you for a lifetime.” His message is a strong one as many teens have had their lives disrupted thanks to becoming parents at too young an age. Many now-adults have said that, looking back on their lives, they felt that they rushed into a sexual relationship too quickly and feel they should have waited. There are also other benefits to chastity that not everyone may know about, such as the health benefits. According to some studies, chastity is linked to improved mental health states, one claims that abstinence can be “better than jogging” when it comes to staying healthy or trying to lose weight.

Originally from Kansas, Michael Anthony Johnson attended college in Dallas where he became part of the school’s traveling worship team. Their mission was to spread the word of god to whoever they visited and to whoever would lend an ear and listen. He visited many countries with the team, ministered to various cultures, and on Don’t Rush, Just Wait, is unveiling his life experiences through song.
