Dense harmonies and heavy production amp up the drama of “God Made It Beautiful,” but the true power of the song comes from the lead vocalists Jason Clayborn and Daria Raymore, as well as Clayborn’s backing choir, the Atmosphere Changers.

Employing the problem-resolution technique in the lyrics, Clayborn expresses how God can turn ashes “into something beautiful.” Daria Raymore joins on the second verse, floating in and around the melody, at turns crooning and shouting the glory down. By the vamp, both singers are so convinced of God’s goodness and power to turn things around that they begin randomly singing passages from the Bible.

Clayborn, the GRAMMY-nominated songwriter responsible for Hezekiah Walker’s “Better” and Ricky Dillard’s “I Survived It,” released his debut single, with the Atmosphere Changers, on the Indianapolis-based Tyscot Records, “Heaven Belongs to You,” last year. He co-wrote “God Made It Beautiful” with Gabriel Hatcher.
