“Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”

Tim Bowman Jr.

Tim Bowman Jr. channels the warm and relaxed vocal style of ‘50s crooners but also vamps with gospel flourishes on the Christmas classic sung originally by Judy Garland in Vincent Minnelli’s Meet Me In St. Louis.

Bowman comes from a musical family—his father is guitarist Tim Bowman and aunt is Vickie Winans—so it’s no surprise that a big band provides ample support as he delivers the ballad with both jazz and gospel inflections.

“A lot of people my age don’t like the older style of singing,” Bowman told TBGB during an interview last year, “but I embrace it. I like to blend the newer, R&B hip hop style with the older style.”
