“After While”
Brandon Camphor
TOMii Entertainment (release date: June 20, 2025)
By Robert M. Marovich
Twenty years after arriving on the national gospel scene, Baltimore-based singer-songwriter and group leader Brandon Camphor delivers “After While,” his best single to date. It’s a rumination on today’s myriad social, economic, and political problems, all to a finger-popping soul groove that complements rather than confuses the commentary.
Rather than shake his head about what’s going on and leave it there, Camphor and his background vocalists proclaim that a better day is coming. “Keep on believing…it will get better after while.” He prays for better for families, the world, and for children. Especially the children. It’s not just hollow, hopeful talk, either—Camphor’s confidence comes out strong in his passionate delivery.
