“That Dude” Deon Kipping, the singer-songwriter responsible for JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise’s 2005 hit, “Incredible God, Incredible Praise,” delivers a heartwarming new gospel ballad called “God is Working.”

The song’s image is of a God who never rests in service to his people. When things look grim and we don’t have all of the answers, Kipping sings, remember that God is working “behind the scenes.” The main line is “Just before you start to fall apart / Remember God does all his best work in the dark.” So “let go and let Him work in your life.”

The selection offers fine call-and-response work between Kipping and his background singers, a fair amount of improvisation, and an impactful moment of a cappella singing.

Kipping knows whereof he speaks. With a diagnosis of Stage 4 colon cancer, he likely gets as much encouragement from this song as his listeners. Please keep this talented young man in your prayers.
