“Mama’s Love”
Sam Adebanjo
This week, in anticipation of Mother’s Day, The Black Gospel Blog will feature songs that pay tribute to Mother.
The first comes from Sam Adebanjo. He has teamed up with award winning producer, singer and songwriter Shabach Beautiful Soundz to release a remix of one of Africa ‘s most popular songs, “Seun Rere,” which means “Mama’s Love” in Yoruba.
The song is dedicated to mothers and is also in memory of Christy Uduak Essien-Igbokwe (11 November 1960 – 30 June 2011), considered Nigeria ‘s “Lady of Songs.” She put Nigeria ‘s name on the world music map with the evergreen “Seun Rere.”
Adebanjo is the leader of DTWG, has won and been nominated for several awards, including the MOBO Awards, AGMA, BEFFTA and the Urban Music Award. Shabach is an BEFFTA Award winning producer. Snatcha, featured on the track, is a member of one of the most popular Nigerian rap groups, Rooftop MCs.
