LOS ANGELES, CA (NOVEMBER 15, 2013) – Multi-award-winning gospel recording artist Donnie McClurkin and his Grammy-nominated siblings will say goodbye to family patriarch Donald Andy McClurkin, Sr. during a home-going service and celebration of his life on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York in Jamaica, NY.   The doors will open at 6:30pm and the service will be held from 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Donald McClurkin, Sr. passed away unexpectedly at 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, of acute myocardial infarction.  He was 79.
 
Born and raised in Chester, South Carolina, Donald moved to Amityville, New York.  He was employed as a local construction worker when he met and married Frances McClurkin (1933-2013) at age 20.

In addition to Donnie McClurkin, Jr, a resident of Rockville Centre, Donald leaves behind six other children: Marlene McClurkin Mason; Cheryl McClurkin of Amityville; Andrea McClurkin Mellini of Farmingville; Anthony McClurkin of Indiana; Tanya McClurkin Staples of Alabama; and Rafael McClurkin of Alabama.  Step-Children: Chavonne Johnson of Central Islip; Walter Johnson of Bristow, Virginia; Robert Johnson of Central Islip; Shjanita Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky; Wife Melanie McClurkin; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Two other children, Olivia McClurkin and Thomas McClurkin, preceded him in death.

The McClurkin family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and words of encouragement during this challenging time.  Those who wish to send cards, condolences, and other expressions of sympathy and support may mail them to the family in care of Perfecting Faith Church at 311 N.
