The Southeast Inspirational Choir launched many careers, most notably that of Yolanda Adams.

A Houston Gospel Legend, RIP.
It is most hurtful and unbelievable that Yolanda Adams didn’t attend Ms. Shirley Joiner’s funeral, neither in person, nor by letter, condolence, telephone, telegram or video gram, just as she didn’t show for Brenda Waters and Carl Preacher’s home going services. Everyone knows that Brenda, Carl and Ms. Shirley trained Yolanda, launched her career and opened the door to her present fame. How sad that she didn’t pay final respect to her mentors. This is a sad message to send out to the young, i.e., we can be mentored, trained, tutored, taught, and carried then walk away from those who cared for us. This is wrong because we are to honor those who have instructed us in the Lord (1Thes 5:12-13). Unlike many pastors, mentors make us greater than themselves with pleasure and this is a wonderful thing. I appreciate the work of all our mentors because they don’t have to do anything for us but do so because they love us and want to bring the best out of us. It is so sad Yolanda blew her final opportunity to show gratitude to Brenda Waters, Carl Preacher, and Ms. Shirley publically in her final hour because failure to do is disrespectful to our deceased mentors that we loved so much. Thank you Brenda Waters, Carl Preacher and Ms. Shirley for the love you gave us that inspired us and the world to become a better place. And I’m so sorry that Yolanda has forgotten where you all brought her from but I must say, we all know that you all made her. This will never be forgotten. TTYL in glory!

Maybe she did stuff behind the scenes.
Maybe she paid for everyone’s services or maybe she decided she could not handle the services or wait, maybe neither of them were in a good relationship wise at the time of each ones passing. But I am not going to lie being a part of Shirley Carl Brenda Theola Booker too, you have to show up at least to pay your respects, because right then you realize NOT 1 camera, autograph or song could make any of them return to the living to correct whatever, you all did not have fixed prior to death.
