“There Remaineth a Rest”
Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers
From 20 Year Celebration, Volume 1: Best for Last
QuietWater Entertainment/Entertainment One Music (2013)
While “The Gift” is the current single from Donald Lawrence’s masterful 20th anniversary album, “There Remaineth a Rest” was the song everyone was singing on the way home from the live recording last year.
Drawing its inspiration from Hebrews 4:9, the hard-driving mid-tempo song focuses on the rest, “the finished work,” that Jesus provided for his people upon his crucifixion. Lawrence teaches the listener to walk in the faith and knowledge that there is no more need for stress or hurting.  The Tri-City Singers respond by repeating the main lyric lines in symphonic harmony.

“There Remaineth a Rest” aligns with the album’s offering of hope and encouragement for those who have lost faith in the possibility of better days ahead.
