“In the Presence of the Lord”

Gail Fly is a product of New Orleans and the Church of Godin Christ, quite an explosive combination when it comes to music.

Natch, she proves herself a pleasing gospel singer on “In the Presence of the Lord.”
Accompanied by a pianist who knows a thing or two about bluesy riffs, Fly delivers this gentle worship song in a lovely soprano that emphasizes inner conviction over extroverted shouting.  Preferring nuance and delicacy, Fly ornaments some of her vocal runs in a way that suggests Whitney Houston has had some influence on her singing.
The single is from Fly’s sophomore project, In His Presence, released last November.
