“You Hold My World”

Israel Houghton

From the Columbia CD Love God. Love People. (2010)
The first single from P&W star Israel Houghton’s new Abbey Road-recorded CD, “You Hold My World” is a super-sized praise and worship song about God’s constant care.
A one-song sampler of sounds, it fuses a wind-chime world music intro, melodic verses and a pounding contemporary gospel chorus climax with an overall effortlessness that only Israel could pull off.  The tension-release is extraordinary.
And the delicate thud of the tonic chord at the end: was that a subtle nod to “A Day in the Life” by another famous Abbey Road denizen?

“You Hold My World” is new fashion from an artist who thrives on new fashion, and succeeds with every change of season.
