“The Power of God”
Bishop Samuel R. Johnson, Sr.
From the forthcoming CD The Sounds of Living Water
Royalton Records/In Season Records/Universal Music Christian Group
Single available on iTunes.
When Bishop Samuel R. Johnson, Sr. sings “The Power of God,” he seems to be having a good time.
As if to prove it, Johnson, his sandy voice a deeper version of Rance Allen’s, scats the intro.
“The single really speaks to how people find themselves lost in life and are searching for an answer,” the Bishop explains, “and it’s the power of God that will bring you out every time.”
The musicians support the song’s message of patience and hope with an easy loping bass, hot brass section, viscous chord changes and an antiphonal chorus.
Bishop Johnson is pastor and founder of Living Water World Ministries in Dayton, Ohio and the spiritual father of 27 churches of Alpha Omega Bethel Churches of India. “The Power of God,” the debut single from the forthcoming The Sounds of Living Water, is available on iTunes.
