When it rains, it pours.

Jordan Phillips reported that gospel music lost another legend.
Willa Ward-Royster died today at the age of 92.

Along with sister Clara and mother Gertrude, Royster was a member of the Famous Ward Singers of Philadelphia, one of gospel music’s most popular singing groups. Royster recounted the life and times of the Ward Singers in How I Got Over (with Toni Rose).

For her obituary, read here: Willa Ward-Royster.

We extend our deepest condolences to Ms. Royster’s family, friends, and many fans.

Gospel Memories will be dedicating its August 18, 2012 program to the music of Royster and Gladys Beamon Gregory, who also passed away this weekend.
