ATLANTA, GA — The legendary World Famous Soul Stirrers, the pioneering gospel group that launched the career of Sam Cooke, have reunited in a powerful reemergence that honors their historic legacy while ushering in a new sound for a new generation.

This revival, produced and arranged by Jeffery Moore, a protégé of the late Arthur Crume, stands as a living tribute to the Crume legacy and to the timeless artistry that defined the Soul Stirrers’ sound. After traveling and studying under Arthur Crume for many years, Moore assumed the mantle of leadership to rekindle the group’s classic harmony and unmatched spiritual resonance.

Released under Ruff Moore Media and distributed via DistroKid, Jesus Be a Fence, Vol. 1 captures the essence of the Soul Stirrers’ faith and artistry, combining a touch of modern rhythm with the deeply rooted soul and integrity that made them a household name in gospel music. To achieve the group’s authentic tone, Moore hand-selected two beloved past members — Jackie Lee Heard and Justin Morris Jr. — both known for their powerful, soul-infused vocals. Morris delivers an uncanny vocal resemblance to Sam Cooke, while Heard brings a commanding, heartfelt gospel presence. Together, they blend seamlessly in harmony with the Soul Stirrers’ trademark sound.

Though Moore has not yet taken the lead on any songs, his influence as producer, arranger, and visionary has been key to crafting this celebrated project. Fans and radio
programmers across the country are praising the new album for its spiritual strength and musical excellence. “This isn’t just a reunion,” says Moore. “It’s a restoration of a sound and a message that shaped gospel music forever. We’re traveling across the United States to share this gift with the world.”
