“You Are”

Setting aside for the moment the kicking polyrhythmic R&B vibe that has brought her thus far, Dove and Stellar Award-winning Kierra Sheard transforms into a commanding power praiser on her new single, “You Are.”
Recorded live in Chicago last year, “You Are” finds Sheard blending the conversational enthusiasm of Martha Munizzi and Maurette Brown Clark with the raw emotion of P&W songster Tonya Baker.
The song is an encouragement to praise God by the multitude of names of which He is known. Just when the listener expects the selection will cool down to a conclusion, Sheard rekindles the fire by breaking into a string of gospel squalls and evangelistic declarations that nearly send the assemblage into praise break. “You Are” is proof that Kierra Sheard is well on her way to joining her aunties and mother as a mature gospel singer.
