I am confident that if every single gospel artist in the world decided to trade in their shouting shoes for urban contemporary, Dr. Charles G. Hayes and the Warriors would remain rooted in the traditional gospel sound.
The Warriors’ latest single, “You Been Good,” is an exuberant shout of praise molded in the choir’s trademark straight-outta-Chicago- church swagger. The musicians and rhythm section could make the dead dance, especially during the vamp. Cosmo is one of those choirs that sounds as good on disc as it does in person.
