The Journal of Gospel Music was saddened to hear that keyboardist, songwriter, producer, and group organizer Bishop Michael A. Brooks made his transition on July 16, 2024. He was 62.
Not only did Brooks help organize the innovative male gospel group Commissioned, but he also started Michael Brooks & the Nation, Michael Brooks & Royal Priesthood, the all-female group Witness (his future wife Lisa Page was part of the ensemble), and produced Totally Committed, among others.
For more information on Brooks, I encourage you to read the obituary published by Libra Boyd for her website Gospel Music Fever: Michael Brooks.
JGM sends its condolences to the family, friends, and many fans of Bishop Michael A. Brooks. Earth has no sorrows that Heaven cannot heal.
