Thank you to the Board of Directors of the Arnold Fields Community Endowment of Hampton County, South Carolina; and the Palmetto State Gospel Music Association for bestowing upon me the 2026 Living Legacy Award.

The award is made annually in memory of singer and songwriter Tyrone Porter, founding member of the Christianaires gospel quartet of Sontag, Mississippi, and, for many years, president of the Gospel Music Workshop of America Quartet Division.

The presentation took place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Arnold Fields Community Endowment Annual Community Service Awards and Scholarship Dinner, held at the North District Middle School in Varnville, South Carolina.

Special thanks go to Pastor Charlie Grant and Pastor Jesse Black who nominated me for this magnificent award; to Chairman Roy Hollingsworth; and to Major General (Ret.) Arnold Fields, for whom the Foundation is named. The award itself is a thing of beauty, with the names of the Christianaires listed prominently on it.

It was a thrill to receive an honor associated with two great men: Tyrone Porter and Maj. Gen. Arthur Fields, both of whom gave tirelessly in their respective careers to make the nation better. I will consider myself fortunate if I can be even one-tenth of the blessing both of these men have been to others.
