If anyone knows how to direct a youth or young adult choir, it’s Alphaeus Anderson.

Anderson’s direction of the youth chorus Pure-N-Heart led to Stellar Awards. He’s now instructor of the Gospel Choir class at University of South Carolina Upstate and director of the USC Upstate Gospel Choir, which has been around for more than forty years.

The USC Upstate Gospel Choir’s single “Already Done” uses Psalm 46:10 (“Be still and know that I am God”) as the foundation for a statement of divine victory. The youthful choir offers CJ Marquis’ sinewy lead plenty of support, especially when they combine to reinforce the message of God as an eliminator of problems by quoting the iconic refrain from Steam’s 1969 “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.” All in all, it’s a vibrant, engaging selection.
