Hans Christian and Gospel Fellowship (Opstand Gospel Choir)
featuring Fred Hammond
From the CD You Are
The gentle and poignant “You Are” is the product of a multicultural, multinational collaboration between the Hans Christian and Gospel Fellowship ensemble of Denmark and Detroiter Fred Hammond.
Lyrically, “You Are” is part P&W and part words of encouragement for, according to the opening narration, “those of you who think you are alone…no one loves you, no one even cares.” Musically, the selection evokes the sweeping crescendos of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
The ensemble is comprised of seven members of the Opstand Gospel Choir, one of Denmark’s most renowned professional gospel choirs. The twenty-member choir was founded two decades ago by Hans Christian Jochimsen. Members are professional musicians, many of whom are either ministers of music or direct gospel choirs around the country.
Hans Christian and the Gospel Fellowship will make its first trip to the U.S. September 24 – 30, 2013.
