“He’ll Make It Alright”
Chicago Mass Choir
New Haven Records (release date: March 1, 2026)
By Robert M. Marovich
Karen Wooten leads the venerable Chicago Mass Choir on “He’ll Make It Alright,” a hard-charging declaration of encouragement in the midst of life’s trials.
The rhythm section is as contemporary as this afternoon, but the tight treble harmonies of the full-throated choir hearken back to the golden age of mass choirs. “He’ll Make It Alright” is not in the same category as Chicago Mass classics such as “Holy Ghost Power” and “Right Now If You Believe,” but gospel fans seeking Sunday morning sounds will embrace the song’s thundering spirit.
