“Like Jabez”
Ernest J. Lee
David’s Dance Music (release date: December 31, 2024)
By Robert M. Marovich
Ernest J. Lee encourages everyone who wants to enlarge their territory to remember what God did for Jabez.
Lee’s funk-soaked song references Jabez’s prayer in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10. The rhythm section and singers charge forward relentlessly from start to finish. It’s about keeping the faith in the face of adversity, and there’s no better way to express it than by laying down meaty grooves that encourage praise dancing “like David.”
Ernest J. Lee is no stranger to JGM‘s Pick of the Week, having landed one in 2017 and again in 2018. He was also featured on a 2020 pick by Chicagoan Dominique Johnson.
