“The Way You Made Me”
Daphney Hilton
Independent (release date: March 10, 2023)

By Robert M. Marovich

Daphney Hilton’s even-handed delivery on “The Way You Made Me” sells the song.

Make no mistake: Hilton has plenty of power in reserve, and she lets a smidgen of it out toward the end, but essentially holds back to keep the message of living truthfully and faithfully front and center. The song and Hilton’s voice flow like honey.

Originally from Miami, Florida, and now living in Atlanta, Hilton is part of the relatively new Contemporary Adult Division of the Gospel Music Workshop of America and on the board of the Gospel Choice Music Awards.
