Duawne Starling
Available on iTunes
At one time, gospel tenor Duawne Starling was “twenty feet from stardom,” singing background for top-shelf artists such as Pastor Donnie McClurkin. His flexible voice can be heard on “Great Is Your Mercy” from McClurkin’s double platinum CD, Live In London and More….
Starling has decided to step into the spotlight as a solo artist. Set to a lush contemporary gospel accompaniment, “If This is Faith” is his debut single. It is a lovely meditation on the transformational power that comes from leaning and depending on faith. “What should break me, I’ll end up breaking,” Starling declares. As if to remind the listener of the timelessness of the message, he interpolates a snippet of the chestnut, “Faith of Our Fathers,” at the end.
“If This is Faith” is well written and masterfully produced by Justin Savage, an equally agile singer who duets with McClurkin on “Come As You Are,” from Pastor Donnie’s forthcoming Duets album.
