Yvonne Seabrooks, President of the Chicago Area Gospel Announcers Guild, reported today that Delores Chandler Matthews, an early member of the Thompson Community Singers and one of the choir’s first musicians, passed away.
Matthews was among the first members of the Reverend Milton Brunson’s famed community youth choir and was the organ accompanist, while Robert Williams was the piano accompanist. She was also a member of the Chandlerettes gospel singers and a longtime member of the Metropolitan M.B. Church on Chicago’s West Side.
