Petrucci’s supple soprano contrasts with Kee’s raspy interjections as together they build to the song’s emotional apex. “How many know that a high percent of your faith is fear,” Pastor Kee shouts, and congregant Petrucci answers by chanting “I won’t be afraid,” climbing the musical stave as she declares victory. The song’s condensed energy forces Kee to exhale a gospel “whoo” at the conclusion.
