Washington, DC gospel announcer and quartet maven Vania “MsVee” Edwards of WYCB just informed us that Karen Washington, of Karen Washington and the Singing Stars, passed away.
The Post-Searchlight reported that Washington, 53, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Archbold Medical Center.
Bruton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Karen was a lovely person, a friend to me, and a fan of The Black Gospel Blog. I will miss her dearly.
At right is a photo I took of Karen at the 2011 Quartet Division Banquet of the Gospel Music Workshop of America in Tampa, Florida. She was a hard working artist and now she has her eternal reward.
UPDATE:
Family friend Glenda Cooper Oziegbe told TBGB that Karen Washington’s homegoing service will be Saturday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John COGIC, 3490 Bainbridge Hwy in Quincy, FL. Oziegbe added that “the Bruton Mortuary in Bainbridge, Georgia, has Karen’s body; the number is (229) 246-6042, if anyone wants to call for the address to send flowers.”

Karen and her husband David are close friends of mine. I will miss Karen who will always live on in my heart. Karen always remembered the poor and blessed so many people with her music. She always shared her music with me and her husband David is in my prayers. Karen Washington’s music will live on forever. We all will see Karen soon in peace rejoicing with her in the kingdom forevermore.
Her good friend Brother Bob Malkin
My point of view Karen is the great gospel singer and also a hard working artist. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas.
