From the forthcoming album Stand Up for Jesus
James Cleveland alumna and member of West Angeles COGIC, gospel veteran Ami Rushes once again joins forces with producer Kurt Carr on a power pop praise song.
The call-and-response “King of Glory” is a megachurch-sized anthem designed to warm the congregation to worship. Rushes sounds like an enthusiastic Bonnie Raitt as she encourages the choir to greater amplitudes of praise.
Ami Rushes is at her best, in my opinion, when she reprises selections from the traditional gospel songbook, but P&W enthusiasts will appreciate this latest effort.
