“God Has Been So Good To Me”
Brooklyn All Stars
4 Winds Records (2013)
The Brooklyn All Stars testify that they may not have “a lot of money in the bank…or drive a Mercedes Benz,” but God woke them up this morning and told Old Man Death to leave them alone–they have more work to do.  Great news for a quartet that has already entered its seventh decade on the gospel circuit.

Gospel legend Thomas Spann punctuates this mid-tempo neo-traditional selection, written by Darrell Luster, with that rare sound: the deep bass voice.  Once essential to the gospel quartet, the bass singer was all but replaced by the bass guitar in the late 1950s, so hearing a bass voice these days is a real treat.
