This contemporary single by Michelle Brooks-Thompson articulates what we already know but frequently forget: “God will never leave you…you’ve come too far to give up now.”
The arrangement is lush and a supremely confident Michelle sings the stuffing out of the song, supplementing arcing high notes with a few lines of shouting evangelism at the end. She delivers just enough melisma to make it pretty but not so much to make it sound busy.
A Season 3 finalist on NBC’s The Voice, Michelle Brooks-Thompson is one of those singers who can sing nearly any kind of style of music. That she sings gospel is a blessing for we enthusiasts of the genre.
