The patriarch of the Barnes Family, which includes quartet songster Luther Barnes, Bishop F.C. is perhaps best known for “Rough Side of the Mountain” but had remained very active in the gospel music community. His work with Darrell Luster on the single, “God Is God (He Don’t Change),” was a radio favorite last year.
TBGB sends condolences to the immediate and extended Barnes Family on its loss.

His Ministry changed my life and I know he is certainly on the other side of the mountain…The beautiful side….Heaven I know must be rejoicing…sleep well my beloved Brother Barnes!
Reverend Barnes has and forever will be a blessing to the gospel industry!! His soulful country voice i will always remember and would want to hear for the rest of my life.. May he rest in Jesus Name. My condolences goes out to the family.
So said….. I love all his songs. B i know he’s gone home to be with Lord.
May the Lord bless you and strengthen you as you bid farewell to a great and wonderful servant of the Lord, for the last time. Bishop Barnes brought ministry to the world – not entertainment, and his voice blessed, encouraged and enlightened the hearts and souls of many all over the world. His voice will be deeply missed from the gospel music industry, but I pray that it comforts you to know that people of God from many walks of life are sharing in your loss today, and earnestly praying for you. I once read somewhere that faith makes things possible, but not necessarily easy. That’s especially true when your heart and home are changed forever by the loss of one that you loved so very much. Your faith may not make it easy to pass thru this darkened valley, but it will make it possible for your strength to be revived and the joy of life renewed, after a while. Your family is on my heart, and in my prayers.
