JGM was saddened to learn of the passing of Sandy Foster, Jr., lead vocalist for the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi. He transitioned to glory on September 14, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born in Miami, Florida, on August 28, 1945, Foster joined the Blind Boys in the early 1970s. He was the latest in a long line of superb lead singers for the group, going back to Archie Brownlee, Rev. Purcell Perkins, Tiny Powell, Roscoe Robinson, Little Ax Broadnax, Jimmy Carter, and Henry Johnson. Foster toured nationally and internationally during his fifty-plus years with the group. We send our sympathies to the family, friends, and many fans of Sandy Foster, Jr., a true quartet legend.
