“Always There”
Carlton Person
Forever Black Studios (June 4, 2026)

By Robert M. Marovich

By itself, “Always There” is a conventional mid-tempo gospel ballad, but Carlton Person’s voice sells it. His frictionless tenor plays with the catchy melody as he proclaims God’s eternal presence in his life. The background vocalists sound like a quartet as they answer Person’s declarations. Nicely done.

The song, from the album Just Hold On, is an example of a music style Person calls “Gospel RV,” a blend of traditional gospel with contemporary R&B and soul to reach both the young and the young-at-heart.
