“Working On Me”
Zacardi Cortez
From the Blacksmoke Music Worldwide album Ibhar: The Journey (Chapter 2)
(album release date: November 14, 2025)
By Robert M. Marovich
When Zacardi Cortez lends his gravelly vocals to a song, it becomes an instant church workout.
Although Cortez has been busy providing featured vocals on tracks by James Cutts and John P. Kee, he has also released a single, “Working On Me.” Supported by a choir of background singers, Cortez declares that he is a work-in-progress and God is still fashioning the final product. “Don’t look at my right now,” he sings, “Just give me a little time. I’m gonna be better than ever, when God gets through working on me.” Everyone can relate, especially when Cortez presses the physicality of his singing into the song to make his point.
