It couldn’t have been easy for Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church Senior Pastor Charles Jenkins to step into the shoes of the Chicago church’s iconic founder, pastor and Civil Rights leader Rev. Dr. Clay Evans, but he has done it.
The GRAMMY-Award winning songwriter Jenkins is now readying his first recording project with Fellowship’s choir: Pastor Charles Jenkins Presents Fellowship Chicago Live. The album will be released online and in stores everywhere in June 2012, and with a “Fellowship Medley” of the church’s past hits as part of the package, it looks like it’s going to be a good one.
“Awesome” is the current single from the forthcoming project. It is a leisurely and slow-building melodic ballad with the choir responding to the praise lyrics that Pastor Jenkins calls and sings out.
