Watch the late Bob Washington and the Gospelaires of Dayton, Ohio perform an eight-minute live version of their classic 1961 hit, “Ride This Train,” to a 1960s-era festival crowd. At one point, Washington tosses off his jacket and works an awed crowd, shaking hands, throwing shapes, confounding the camerapeople, and generally raising the temperature as the rest of the Gospelaires chant and provide electric guitar accompaniment.

    I HAVE ENJOYED THIS TRUE GOSPEL MUSIC FOR THE LAST 47 YRS. OF MY LIFE. YOU CAN’T FIND REAL MUSIC LIKE THIS IN THE STORES ANYMORE AND ITS ASHAME. I CAN REMEMBER WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY SITTING AT THE SPORTORTORIUM WITH MY MOTHER /BROTHER LISTENING TO THE GIFTED VOICE OF BOB WASHINGTON,AND THE GOSPELAIRES ALONG WITH OTHER GROUPS SWANN SILVERTONES,MIGHTY CLOUDS OF JOY, PILGRIM JUBILEES, BLIND BOYS [CLARENCE FOUNTAIN], INEZ ANDREWS,HIGHWAY QC’S[SPENCER TAYLOR] DIXIE HUMMINGBIRDS, FANTASTIC VIOLINAIRES[ROBERT BLAIR] AND MANY MANY MORE.
